Day of the Dead at Springs Preserve

Day of the Dead

Who said Vegas doesn’t have culture? Over the weekend my family experienced a family-friendly event at Springs Preserve Vegas that proves culture runs deep in the valley. The Vegas Latino community came out in full support of Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) festivities at Springs Preserve. It was truly an amazing celebration of life and rich tradition.

The altars at this Day of the Dead event were out. of. control. So amazing! Such detail and creativity poured into each one. We had a wonderful time walking the acres of the Spring Preserve Vegas to take in all the beauty.

In addition to altars, nearly the entire 180 acre Springs Preserve was decorated. It felt like you were walking through a lavish amusement park. There was live entertainment from cultural dance/music groups throughout the night, too. You could hear it where ever you were on the Springs Preserve property, which made for a great experience.

There were also stations set up throughout the property to do crafts with the kids – like making your own sugar skulls. The lines were super long, so get there early and plan to do those activities first. There were also vendors selling art and handmade items, as well as plenty of delicious food.

Hundreds of people were in attendance at this fun Springs Preserve Vegas event, making it one of the best cultural events of the year. Make sure to enjoy the various performances at the main stage, too! Bring a blanket and sit on the lawn while the kids play and dance to the Latino music.

But here is my little ayudita, or tip: Get there early!!! The event started at 4pm and we got there at 6pm. We had to park across the street at the nearby mall. By then the lines were long and the craft stations were was packed.
