Easy and Fun Spring Break Painting Activity for Kids
Oh, Spring… I am so happy to know you’re right around the corner! The small flower buds on our plum trees are blooming, the sliding glass door stays open all day and we lay outside on blankets in the warmth of easy sun. Spring, I love you!
Because Alina loves to paint, we visited Walmart’s craft section for some artistic inspiration. I love their selection of craft and art supplies, and thank Walmart for sponsoring this post! These pretty floral stencils stuck out at me almost instantly and Alina loved the idea of bringing the beauty of our flowering garden indoors. To make it a bit more educational, I made this easy activity for kids a Paint-by-Numbers project.
Paint-by-Numbers Spring Activity for Kids: What You Need
Stretch Canvas (we bought a 2 pack of 11×14’s that were very affordable)
Floral Stencils
Paint/Paintbrushes
Pencil
Activity for Kids: Instructions
Allow your little one to help you arrange the stencils and design your art piece. Use the pencil to outline the stencil and create the beginnings of your masterpiece.
Designate a number to each color you’re working with, mixing colors to create varying hues.
Mark the stencils with the colors you want in each part of your painting.
And that’s it! Start painting by numbers!
Alina is still little and needed quite a bit of help painting the small areas. This project might be best for older preschoolers, but we still had a great time! Paint by Numbers is a fun project I enjoyed as a little girl, and with a few inexpensive supplies from Walmart, you can design and create your own masterpiece too!
