Family Vegas Blog Celebrates 4th of July

I really love celebrating our Nation’s Independence Day and documenting it on my Vegas blog; it was always a holiday that my family enjoyed. They immigrated here in the 1960’s as political refugees and have a deep love for the United States. So, as Alina’s first 4th of July in 2010 neared, I scoured the ‘net to find the perfect way to celebrate the United State’s birthday and found a local patriot’s parade. When July 4th 2011 neared, Daddy D and I decided to attend the same Vegas family parade. Alina was about a year and a half; she had a blast!

For 4th of July 2012, Sebastian’s first, there was really no doubt that we would attend this local parade again. We dolled the babies up in all their patriotic glory, and before the heat took hold, set out to enjoy a wonderful local event that we have experienced for the last three years.

Isn’t that bow tie too adorable?! My good friend Jessica got it for Sebastian a few months back; it was the perfect touch for his patriotic outfit!

Just like last year, Alina had a blast at the parade; she’s been talking about it ever since! She loved the floats and marching bands. She loved waving her flag and sweet little hand at all the passerby participants. She loved saying “happy fourth of huuuuuuue LY!”. It was the cutest ever!

We were also happy to have our best Vegas friends with us this year. Baby B and Alina are the best buds ever, and we are so lucky to enjoy special moments like this with them!

And believe it or not, remember this post where Vegas Mayor Goodman at our local library? Well, we ran into her husband! The former and beloved Vegas Mayor, Oscar Goodman. Check out his cute smile in the upper left of this above photo…he smiled right at me, that sweetheart!

We had so much fun as a family and look forward to attending this local gem of a parade for many years to come! It feels oh-so American to celebrate within a localized community, supporting our schools and organizations. Who said Vegas has no culture? No sense of community? Not MY Vegas!

We are already counting down the days till next year!

Oh fun! I was in this parade when we first moved here back in 2007, but haven’t gone back since. Probably because it was 120 degrees that year, and I turned into a puddle…
I think next year we’ll brave the heat and check it out! 😉
