Best Travel Souvenirs for Kids: Good Night Our World Travel Book Series

Best Travel Souvenirs

Raising kids to love travel and have cultural sensitive points of view is very important to us as parents. As Alina matures and adsorbs her surroundings more fully, building our travel legacy becomes even more important to Daddy D and I. But, you don’t have to be jet setters to exposure your kids to the wonders of the world! Just surround them with the best travel souvenirs you can get for kids (or anyone, really) – BOOKS! Specially, we love the Good Night Our World Travel Book Series.

In fact, since I know how much of a struggle fitting travel into a family budget can be, waiting until your boarding pass is in hand to begin the exploration of cultures is really not an option. Start your travel legacy early and often with these super adorable books, which make the best travel souvenirs.

Best Travel Souvenirs

For every place we go, we buy the coordinating Our World of Books as a souvenir and addition to our library. The cardboard books are perfect for tiny hands and can withstand toddler mayhem, but provide ample reading to remember a trip long passed. Actually, the books are quite accurate in the most popular tourist related activities! Like a kids’ tourist guide! It gives historical renderings and helps kids remember the fun things they did on their trips, or even can be used as inspiration for future travel itineraries. The colors are bright and the illustrations are endearing, but its how the books are written that truly capture my heart. Every Our World of Books souvenir we have purchased expressed the essence of the locale we remember in such a fun, lyrical way. We read at least one of our Good Night books at bedtime every night, and I never get bored of them. They have also published Good Morning, Good Afternoon and Good evening series. From the website –

The series is, in part, inspired by Walt Whitman’s poems, such as the classic book Leaves of Grass and the famous poem “Song of Myself,” in which the poet catalogs item after item, in a process whereby the mere naming of each item draws attention to it and thus imbues in with a sense of import. To a degree, the Good Night Our World series tries to recognize and celebrate the world in a Whitmanesque spirit.”

This post is not sponsored in any way. I truly love these little books; sharing their influence on our family is an honor. They are classically designed, fun to read and filled with images of families doing activities that an average tourist family would be doing in that location. I snapped the picture above while on my trip to New Orleans for the Niche Mommy Conference this summer right before I bought the sweet book for Alina. She loves it, and now is so excited to visit New Orleans for herself one day! (Notice the Good Morning series, too? Love them!) It was the best travel souvenirs I could have gotten her, especially since it is a gift that gives back to my child over and over again.

Regardless of what tradition you start, and in which way you choose to ingrain your travel legacy into your babies, consider a great book series as a tool. Books are truly the best travel souvenirs!

Ahhhhh what an awesome idea!!!! I had never thought of this!!!! We always struggle on what to bring the kids back when we go somewhere… it always ends up being a t-shirt or something that they may not really use… but this is a great idea! Thanks for sharing!

Whatever the reason – you can never go wrong with gifting a child the world through literature.

Ah! I whole-heartedly agree! We have the entire collection. A few years ago, I contacted and rallyed with the author/publisher to do one for Las Vegas. That was about 8 years ago. I should try again!
