It feels as though since the moment we found out I was having a second baby, and that it was a boy, my Step Mom and Sister started thinking about a baby shower. “When can we have it? Where will it be? Tell your family in California. And your Cali friends too. What are the colors of the nursery? What is his name?” Ahhh! The planning insanity!!!
At the risk of sounding like a spoiled brat, I was really against having a baby shower at all, let alone the kind of party usually thrown by Alina’s Grammy and Auntie. They get out. of. control. In an amazing, creative, intensely detailed kind of way. And the thing is… I just had a beautiful baby shower two years ago! And a bridal shower two years before that. My friends and family came from all over, I was showered with gifts and I just felt horrible asking them to do that all over again. Not to mention all the planning efforts the hosts would go through.
But they wanted to celebrate our new boy, so a compromise was made: a low key pot luck at Grammy’s for family to enjoy. Just come and eat. No games or other craziness. Truth be told, when I woke up on my non-baby shower day, I was SUPER excited!! And ultimately, very spoiled. Our Son received so many heartfelt gifts, including handmade blankets, a custom made mobile and even a few accessories for an outfit I recently blogged about…
It was great spending quality time with family, especially for Alina who was able to hang out with her favorite kids. Along with our best bud Baby B, Alina’s beloved Payton and Cam Cam were also there to celebrate in the arrival of the newest cousin. It never gets old watching my girl love on these two kids!
Since it was a potluck, I volunteered to bring a few sweet treats. I have loved TCBY frozen yogurt since I was a kid. There was a store across the street from my middle school, and before my wild group of friends went roller skating to the beach, we’d stop and pick up a frozen yogurt. Oh, the days of unabashed freedom and salty air blowing through your hair. Anyway, I was thrilled to learn that TCBY would be launching their products in Wal-Mart’s nationwide this month!
And trust me when I tell you, there was plenty woofing down of this yumtastic stuff going on! My sister asked me 100 times {okay, maybe just twice} if I was sure it was frozen yogurt and not ice cream. It was thick and creamy, yet not super heavy like fully loaded ice cream can feel. And with its variety of flavors available, almost any topping will taste great! Along with the frozen treats, I also brought an assortment of fruits, sprinkles, nuts and granolas so that everyone could customize their own frozen yogurt treasure. In addition to pints and quarts of frozen yogurt, TCBY is also making novelity items: Orange and Vanilla Bars, Frozen Yogurt Sandwhiches and Chocolate Fudge bar, to name a few. Can I tell you how BUMMED I was that my local Wal-mart did not yet carry these products? I searched high and low, asked every employee I could find, but there was no sign of them! I could only imagine how delicious they are, and will be going back soon to see if they have arrived. Just in case, Click here to see TCBY novelties!
Did I mention that I REALLY loved the TCBY frozen yogurt!? Oh no? Well, here you go. Ladies, take notes: this is totally how I got my man. I warned you, I am a crazzzzzy Cuban!

March 23, 2012 at 7:46 amthat’s so great that you let them give you a shower after all. It’s nice to celebrate each baby. I still regret not having a shower for my daughter. I’m so glad you stopped by Vanessa. And congratulations on your new soon to be baby.
