As a curly hair woman, I didn’t always understand the impact hair has on our identity. Much like I did with my hair, I abused or ignored or altered who I was for the sake of fitting in. Maybe even to be loved by a boy. But, after giving birth to my biracial children, curly hair has never looked more beautiful to me. Though seen as radical, the natural hair that grows out of our head is wonderfully made. These curly hair quotes are a reminder to my mixed girl that the relationship between a woman and her curls can be a complicated journey, but exhilarating one nonetheless.
I write about my love for curly hair kids all the time but sometimes need a reminder. Natural hair quotes and even a few funny hair quotes are important because the reflections are true and humanize an experience not often talked about in mainstream media. I hope you love them all as much as we do!
