Our family is so excited to attend Grinchmas at Universal Studios Christmas season! We started the tradition last year and enjoyed all the Christmas joy the Hollywood park offered, especially Harry Potter World. This year, I am really excited to spend more time at the Who-lebration at Grinchmas.
Universal Studios Grinchmas
Universal Studios Grinchmas is unlike any other Christmas celebration at a theme park. It takes place on specific weekends only, so be sure to check their website for updates. Grinchmas is the best Universal Studios Christmas Party because it gives your family the opportunity to slow day a busy day at the park to enjoy some laughter and entertainment. The area is anchored by a gorgeous tree. The kids can meet and take pictures with The Grinch, as well as his dog Max. And the near constant entertainment is actually very fun. The acapella group is REALLY good and it feels as though you’re at an actual concert. And who doesn’t love Christmas carols?!
Grinchmas: Best Universal Studios Christmas
Grinchmas at Universal Studios Hollywood returns with a Who-lebration of fun with The Grinch, his faithful dog Max and the entire crew of Who-ville Whos who sing, dance and keep the party going all day long. The annual event comes to life with a towering 60- foot tall whimsical “Grinchmas” tree where Martha May Who-vier and the Who Dolls take center stage performing energetic musical sets to usher in the Christmas season in style. Slowing down to enjoy the music and energy is one of my favorite parts of Christmas at Universal Studios.
The Who-liday Singers—a hip boy-band ensemble— perform a cappella concerts featuring a mix of Christmas favorites and pop rock. There are Who-ville characters throughout Grinchmas performing and interacting with guests, which makes the entire experience very interactive. Universal Studios Christmas events are listed as you enter Grinchmas, but I’m listing them here for you too (*double check the specific time when you get to the park):
- Martha May and the Who Dolls Performances: 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00
- Wholiday Singers Performance: 12:00, 1:00, 2:30, 3:30, 4:30
- Wholiday Tree Lighting: Every half hour starting at 5:30 (weather permitting)

My kids LOVED the performances, but my favorite was probably the fun Christmas treats at Who-ville! Some of the food we enjoyed at Grinchmas could be found at the Who-bilicious Treats cart right next to the line to see the Grinch. Treats included green cotton candy, holiday rice Krispy treats and cookies, hot chocolate cupcake, the Grinch cupcake and of course the famed Grinch donut.
Universal Studios Hollywood Christmas
While the kids waited in line to meet and take a picture with The Grinch, I browsed through some of the adorable Grinchmas merchandise you can find throughout Universal Studios Hollywood Christmas celebrations. And of course, all the adorable dolls and merchandise that my kids loved to browse were available for purchase in-store and at the Universal Studios store on CityWalk.
