The LA Zoo is one of my most favorite places to spend the day when visiting home. Its educational, affordable and the gardens are beautifully kept. So during our week long visit to California earlier this month, four of my long time friends and our eleven {11!} kids trekked out of our beach town to see and learn about animal wildlife.
Alina loved looking at all the animals. And for you loyal readers, you won’t be surprised that she has been yapping about them ever since. At least once a day she wants to relive the LA Zoo experience by listing each and every animal we saw. She had a blast! I am happy to have spent a fostering her learning in a more concrete way of all the animals we have seen in picture books.
Unfortunately, now that I am a Momma of two, I couldn’t shoot as many pictures and tend to Sebastian AND focus on Alina’s adventure. But, I tried and managed to get a few cool animal pics. One tip of advice, head to the zoo right when it opens. The animals are more active, since its cooler, and you can possibly catch a feeding or two.
For me, the most fun of the experience was watching Alina bond with the kids of some of my dearest friends. These old hags have been down for my crazy antics since before I could drive; I’ve spent countless hours loving up on their precious babies and feel like part of the family. Most especially my best friend Nicole’s, the eldest of who is my God daughter. Devin was so attentive to Alina. She held her hand, walked with her everywhere and basically filled in as Big Sister when I was busy with Sebastian. She made Alina’s LA Zoo experience very special. I simply cannot believe how much Devin has grown, and into such a beautiful young lady at that. {Okay, I gotta stop before I start crying. I love that girl too much.} I’ll let the images do the rest…
And who can forget about my darling little mister. He was such a good boy! And it was nice to have four other set of arms to help me out after being without Daddy D for several days; that’s what friends are for! I am excited to take Sebastian to the LA Zoo every summer as he grows, too.
Have you been to the LA Zoo? Like it much? If I lived in Cali still, I would absolutely get a season pass so that Alina and I could enjoy it, and the surrounding parks, regularly. I envision going out there for a picnic lunch and study a specific animal for awhile before we headed home. Alas, we don’t live in Cali. So I don’t have a season pass. Bummer.
Happy Thursday!
