My beautiful baby is 8 months old today and his development is happening every day. It’s both exciting to witness his 8 month milestones, but also sad because I know his days as an infant will some be over. I’m so honored to call this beautiful baby mine. Happy 8 months, beautiful baby of mine!
Happy 8 Months, My Beautiful Baby
Sweet son, you drive your mama crazy! Crazy in love. Crazy from lack of sleep. Crazy in energy as you get into every knock and cranny of this house – you totally keep me on my toes! But really, raising you every day makes me crazy proud, maybe more than I have ever been before. Between you and your sister, and your daddy who leads this family so beautifully, I am one very proud woman.
8 Month Old Milestones
You have developed tremendously in the last month. Your 8 month old milestones have you at
- 22 pounds: Your Doctor actually said your weight was “tapering off” because of your mobility, but you are still chunking in at the 85%.
- 28.5 inches tall: Sitting around 80% for height!
Whether on all fours or an army crawl, you make your way all over this house! You can pull up onto anything and cruise on the furniture. You love to stand next to the open toy drawer and play, pulling every last toy out. It is amazing to me how well you understand the world around you. When you get too close to the fireplace, and I tell you “No touch! Hot!” you actually listened. I had to look up this milestone in the baby bible because I didn’t believe you were already cognitively understanding me like that. Low and behold, its true. Although you don’t always obey, you certainly know not to touch when I use that phrase.
Your language skills are picking up now too. You can say so much now! You 100% know who “mama” is and scream for me when its time for a snuggle. You love to see “dadadadada” when he comes home and you make a noise that sounds like “baba” anytime you see and want a ball.
I love this silly face you make, accompanied by a snorting type laugh. These photo of your toothless grin make me especially happy because next month’s letter to my son will showcase a different smile altogether. You have four (!) top teeth coming in. They are keeping us up at night, occasionally making you grouchy during the day and will undoubtedly change your smile forever. There aren’t many things I’m not looking forward to as you grow, but losing this adorable toothless smile makes me kind of sad. You eat very well. You love anything you can rake into your tiny fingertips.
Brother and Sister Love
Your sister loves you like crazy, too. There is NOTHING more amazing in this world than watching the two of you together. You two crack me up! And while you would think it was the other way around, your sister’s constant love, admiration, and singing, really really bug you. Ha!
Sometimes you can’t get enough of her, while other times you are just so annoyed. You almost always pull her hair, and she does nothing at all to stop you. You two dance together, take turns “singing”, you climb all over her and stick her toys in your mouth (to which she says, “we’ll clean that, right Mom?”).
My sweet 8 month old baby boy, I love you! Happy 8 months! I know that being our second child has not diminished what you inherit: a whole family. One that is more financially secure. One with two parents that are comfortable in our roles. One with a sibling to drive you crazy. Also, you are born to a mom that is way more secure in her identity as a mother, with the ability to actually feel pride in you. And our family.
