When it comes to his favorite television shows, my little boy doesn’t stick to one genre. He’ll quickly move from superheros or live sports to animated princess, but he’s latest obsession are the two little cuties of Nickelodeon’s newest show, Shimmer and Shine.
Of course I love that the sisters display diversity in skin color and that the core message is centered around teamwork to solve problems, but this little boy is all about their super genie powers, the enchanting melodies and their animal friends. And now that Shimmer and Shine is out on DVD, beginning February 2, he’s fallen head over heels in love with these two genies-in-training…
About Shimmer and Shine
Have your little ones watched this magical show before? If not, let me fill you in… twin sisters, Shimmer and Shine, are Leah’s secret genies-in-training. Leah always has some dilemma that she needs her magical friends’ help with, and the genies are happy to grant her three wishes a day. As genies-in-training, they sometimes misinterpret what Leah wishes for, and sometimes accidentally grant her wishes she didn’t even mean to make. Fun, right?!
Each wrong wish quickly compounds into a crazy adventure that delights my kids… especially this little boy! Ultimately, through teamwork, the genies and Leah find a way to fix the problem without the use of wishes.
Shimmer and Shine airs on Nickelodeon, weekdays at 11:30am ET/PT.
New on DVD: Shimmer and Shine
Nickelodeon’s (mis)adventurous and magical twin sisters come to DVD on Shimmer and Shine. In its very first DVD, kids can join Shimmer, Shine, Leah and her friend Zac in the magical worlds of genies, dinosaurs and more. The DVD has over 2 ½ hours of magical content and 7 fun-filled episodes.
The episodes take Shimmer and Shine on various adventures; from building a treehouse to hunting for beach treasures, little boys and girls will be delighted by the content.
Created by Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and distributed by Paramount Home Media Distribution, Shimmer and Shine is available for the first time on DVD February 2, 2016.

Believe me, I understand this, my son is a Blaze and the Monster machines kind of kid, but there is something about the new Dora and Friends in the City, that makes him lose his mind! Dora is like Shakira and Beyoncé all rolled up into one!! I had to go out and buy him the DVD. His twin sister is like “Eh” but Javi, loves the new grown up Dora. After the show is over, he goes back to playing with his monster trucks and cars, so funny, but I love that he has a diverse interests.
