An Afternoon at San Diego Belmont Park

Any time we venture over to San Diego’s Mission Beach, we end up at San Diego Belmont Park. The kids and I recently took my mom and grandmother to enjoy the family-friendly atmosphere, amusement park rides and sweet treats. Mission Beach Belmont Park is a perfect way to spend a sunny San Diego afternoon!

Mission Beach Belmont Park

San Diego’s Mission Beach is one of my favorites because it has so much to offer! First, with Mission Bay adjacent, there are a bunch of water sports and outdoor activities on offer. You can try sailing, kayaking or even a ferry. Also, the beach itself is really beautiful. The tide is close, making it easier to get to the water. And who doesn’t love San Diego weather? The beach strand is lined with shops and restaurants, making it easy to grab quick snacks or enjoy a meal while watching the sunset. Our family stayed at the Bahia Resort, which is perfect for families looking to explore Mission Beach, Mission Bay and Belmont Park. We walked and/or rode bikes down every morning!

While I love Mission Beach for all those reasons, what makes this area extra special is Belmont Park. Situated right next to the beach’s strand, this little area of restaurants and shops reminds me of a smaller version of Santa Monica Pier. It has so many fun things for kids to do. We went down there a few times during our stay, and each time the kids had so much fun. We went on the vintage carrousel countless times and one day we even indulged with an ice cream cone from Sweet Shoppe the size of a child’s head!

Amusement Park at Mission Beach

Even for a three-year-old and toddler, there were plenty of rides to enjoy. They loved riding the Submarine and pretending she was a captain of a sailboat. And while he was too small for most rides, my baby wobbled around while being chased by his Abuela. I was just in heaven, taking way too many pictures. San Diego Belmont Park is definitely a place we’ll come back to over and over.

Sweet Shoppe Belmont Park

When the weather in Mission Beach is warm and sunny, there’s nothing better than a sweet treat from the iconic Sweet Shoppe at Belmont Park! The line was out the door, but the fresh waffle cones and ice cream didn’t disappoint. The shop is right next to the carousel, making a great spot to sit and rest after a fun bay the beach or bay.

Mission Beach Park

Belmont Park was a wonderful backdrop for precious memories made with all four generations. It was an afternoon that didn’t overwhelm the young kids or the adults, offered plenty of options for activities and didn’t break the bank either! San Diego Belmont Park is a budget-friendly thing to do in San Diego with kids and adults alike.

If you are in San Diego’s Mission Beach area, I totally recommend you check out Belmont Park for an afternoon of good old fun. Mission Bay, Mission Bay Park, Mission Beach and Belmont Park are within walking distance, so pack up your stroller with everything you’ll need for a full day of fun at the beach and amusement park. Especially helpful for when the kids are too tired to walk home.
