As the weather finally warms up and the flowers begin to bloom, I can’t help but look at my babies and appreciate their budding beauty. It’s hard to believe they’re growing so quickly and, especially as the warm weather beckons, I want to enjoy quality moments with them as often as possible. Recently, we had our first outdoor picnic of the year. A no-fuss easy picnic menu with simple activities made for a fun mommy-n-me picnic filled with quality moments that I won’t soon forget.
I’m excited to continue a partnership with Ziploc’s Fresh 180 program to remind us (me!) that quality moments with our babies can be fresh and healthy, without being stressful.
Our Easy Picnic Menu with Ziploc®
I didn’t plan in advance for our mommy-n-me picnic – after all, a great picnic doesn’t need to be fussy! Using the food staples that we keep at home, along with Ziploc® Brand products to keep our food fresh, I was able to put together a fresh picnic with foods and snacks my kids love. All I needed was some sunshine and about an hour to throw everything together before picking Alina up from preschool.
I used Ziploc® Brand Sandwich Bags to transport our sandwiches. For the kids, I made their favorite Almond Butter and Strawberry Jelly sandwiches. I used a bunny-shaped cookie cutter and wrote each of their names on the Ziploc® Brand bags for a special touch. It was an easy step and they loved it!
For Mommy, a Grilled Brie, Turkey and Spinach Sandwich hit the spot. I stored the grilled masterpiece in Ziploc® Brand’s Quart Storage Bag, which was the perfect size and thickness for the hot sandwich. Oh man, I can still taste the oozing cheese. It was delicious!
Buying fresh fruits in bulk and storing them in Ziploc® Brand Versa Glass® Containers makes for a quick and healthy addition to your picnic lunch. And because they’re so affordable, I don’t mind throwing them in our picnic bag. My kids love fruit, so every week I make a fruit salad of their favorite berries, grapes and banana and store them in Versa Glass®. I also made celery boats for an easy veggie and dip snack.
Outdoor Activities and Crafts
Our picnic was not just about an easy menu and fresh snacks, but the chance to sit outdoors and enjoy the sunshine. The kids ran across the open field, rolled down the hills and, after plenty of time playing in the playground, we sat down to read a book and paint.
I store Alina’s acrylic paints and brushes in large Ziploc® Brand’s Big Bags, so it was easy to grab the bag as we were running out the door. Filled with supplies and a favorite book, our mommy-n-me picnic ended with Alina’s current favorite activity: painting! These storage bags are so awesome for storing and transporting pretty much anything.
My babies are growing so fast – too fast! – and I desperately want their youth to be filled with quality moments that matter. I want them remember me as a mom who was present, which means I need products that make moments easy and quick to pull together.
Ziploc® Brand products help me keep fresh foods at home, but they also allow me to take our mommy-n-me moments out of the house and into their hearts.
