Our California coast road trip this year was one of the best we’ve had as a family. Family travel can be tricky, balancing logistics with kids and the desire to see it all. During our road trip, we made learning a priority. We visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium to get acquainted with the area and the learn about the ocean habit there.
Set on the coast, the aquarium has insanely beautiful views to sit and enjoy. There are also plenty of engaging experiences for young kids to explore – like the touching pools, wave area and water play space.
Monterey Bay Aquarium: A Family Favorite
We had the best time while at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and wrote all about our adventures over at Family Trails. Without spoiling too much, I’ll say that each of us had our own favorites. Sebas ADORABLE the jellies exhibit (and it was high on my list, too) and the touch pools. Alina loved the clam-eating otters. Daddy D had fun viewing the massive open sea tank. And I, well, watching the kids learn and love these new experiences was the best part of the afternoon.
The aquarium just opened a new show to promote awareness and teach visitors the area’s history. I though that was great and had no idea the vast diversity of people and cultures that established the fishing economy there.
I can’t wait to go back to the Central California coast and visit Monterey again. I feel like we didn’t get nearly enough time. Of course the kids can’t wait to visit the aquarium again too.
