Sebastian is officially a toddler!! His first birthday party was a success, which means we are onward to toddlerhood – including adventures in potty training. I’ve learned a lot about the topic while working with Pull-Ups and their Madrinas del Baño campaign. I was even able to ask medical and parenting experts one of my burning questions about potty training boys. And thank goodness I did, because I probably never would have asked it otherwise!
I’ve also learned that potty training Sebastian is going to be a family affair. Being the second born, and utterly in love with his big sister, getting Alina involved is going to be crucial. And I know just the tool to use. Do you remember this post, when I started potty training Alina, and I asked if there was an “app for that”? Well, guess what? The universe was listening and they made one: Pull-Ups Big Kid App! Isn’t that awesome! The app is filled with Disney characters that Alina loves and, although she is already potty trained, I know that it will get her excited to help “teach” her brother how to use the potty like a big kid. Alina loves playing teacher with her little brother, and I can see her using this app to express her support. The Pull-Ups website also has some cute and useful tools that you can print at home to get the whole family excited about this important milestone.

April 10, 2013 at 1:29 pmI am in the process of beginning potty training on my Baby Boy. He is nearing 2 so, I figure it’s about time. He actually comes into the restroom with me and Daddy. He’ll sit on his toilet, still in his clothes and diaper, while we potty. then he gets his own piece of toilet paper and pretends to wipe while I do. He then tosses it in the big toilet and puts the top down for me and flushes. All the while I praise him and say, this is how we potty. He tends to now say, “booboo.” while pointing at his diaper and goes to the toilet and sits on his potty. I’ve told my husband to put him on the toilet when he does this. We are starting and it is going to be a ride.

April 11, 2013 at 10:03 pmI have found that letting them run around naked works, there will be accidents but I think they understand their “plumbing” better this way 😉

April 12, 2013 at 6:17 pmPatience! My oldest grandson was scared at first, but after the first few days he finally got the hang of it. Have a great reward waiting for them, too. My grandson loved M&Ms.
