I’ve got a big announcement for my De Su Mama readers today. I have been anxiously waiting for the green light to spill the beans because, well, I suck at keeping secrets. Since earlier this week the frijoles were officially spilled, I can now tell my beloved readers that I have been selected as one of the influential Hispanic Mom Bloggers for the Britax Hispanic Digital and Social Media Outreach campaign! Woot Woot! Doesn’t that make me sound all kinds of legit? Trust me, I shared in your shock when I got the news. Nevertheless, I am taking this opportunity by the horns and making it my own…
And why am I so excited, you ask? First off, I adore this brand! LOVE, actually. Their standard of safety is second to none, the quality of their products is amazing and, when I heard about their initiative to reach out to the Hispanic population through bilingual and Spanish social media venues, I was determined to work with them. They recently launched a new Facebook page for the initiative as well: BRITAX Los Lleva Seguros. It’s still under construction, but feel free to stop by and share the love.
Before the birth of De Su Mama, I conducted hours upon hours of research on safety requirements of most child rearing products. None were more important to me, however, than car seats. I’ve been in a car accident before, and although I pray that my children never have to go through an event like that, being cautiously prepared was important to me. Britax was the brand my Mommy friends recommended the brand I kept coming back to as a leader in child safety standards.
Choosing your child’s safety gear is a personal one; every good Momma wants to keep their most precious ones safe. I know that. But because Britax goes over and beyond regulated standards, including features that help real life Mommies do our best at keeping the kids safe, I opted for them. For example, our big girl seat is the Britax Boulevard 70 CS. That “CS” means that there is a strap that I yank after securing Alina into her seat that clicks when the straps are tight enough. So I never wonder if her straps are too loose; brilliant, right? Such a simple feature, but I use it every day.
I’m just a Momma who wants the safest and most appropriate gear for our lives, and that includes taking budget into consideration. Since we are a one-income family, this meant doing a ton of research on price comparisons, price matches, and sales. Wanna know my secret weapon to find deals on big-ticket items? Have you heard of Baby Cheapskate? I am not affiliated with this site at all, but seriously, go like their Facebook page and stalk their wall for deals on the items you are looking for. Really amazing information to be had over there. I got a killer deal on our treasured Britax Boulevard, which made Daddy D very happy.

We’re a Britax family, too. We have two Advocates — one for each car! Nothing else was an option for us!
Hope the delivery of your baby boy is smooth and uneventful. We can’t wait to “meet” him! 🙂

April 3, 2012 at 8:07 pmAww! Love the pictures!! So excited to see another mama who’s keeping her baby rear-facing as long as possible!
Lily is on the small side, so she’s three and a half and still rear-facing. She’s 28 lbs now, so I’m going to take her until she’s at least 30 lbs…her car seat rear-faces up to 35 lbs.
I think it’s great to see so many more parents rear-facing longer…this is so essential and I absolutely LOVE Britax for all the work they do in building seats that keep our children safer and rear-facing longer. LOVE!
So excited to be a part of this project and I hope we’ll get the chance to meet up soon at one of the Britax events! WOOT! WOOT!! Congrats amiga! You totally deserv it! 😉
