Family Vegas Blog
Sunset Park is an older park, situated near the airport. It has a man-made, lake-type mass of water that boasts a large collection of hungry docks and geese. For the record: I’m a beach lover. Or at the very least a naturally occurring body of water lover. But, my dear Vegas blog readers, this was still a fun way to get out with the family on a Sunday morning, walk around a new park and watch Alina in a “quack, quack” frenzy. Alina loves animals, and although we knew the body of water would be there, for some reason it didn’t occur to us that we’d be enjoying the park with some of our favorite feathered friends.
The highlight for me was finding this adorable family of three. Geese! Love geese and their mean, nasty ways! I shoot with a prime lens, and immediately told my husband “see, this is why I need [you should buy] a zoom lens!” It took some serious courage on my part to take these shoots. I had to get in close, and the history I have with these feathered beauties is not the most cordial. The Daddy was not very happy with me moving in on his family at first. He started to growl at me {seriously!}, but after I complimented his beautiful baby, he chilled out. I laid flat on my stomach and slowly eased my way towards the trio. Again, with my prime lens, I had to get in close. Scary! Isn’t it amazing how animals react to your behavior and energy? I literally told Mister Daddy Geese that his baby was soooo cute, and so he let me take their pictures. Amazing.
And because this can’t be a family Vegas blog post without a picture of my precious baby girl…
