As we left, families were already setting up their blankets and chairs for The District’s Outdoor Picture Show which features free movies for the whole family to enjoy under the stars every Friday and Saturday night during the summer months. How cool is that! Movies don’t start until 8pm, and Alina is usually fast asleep by that time, so we will probably not attend many showings, but it made me excited for next summer! Be sure to visit the link above for a detailed schedule of movie showings throughout the summer months.
We grabbed a quick bite at Al’s Garage, where we sat outside watching Alina color a picture for Daddy and listened to the music coming from the nearby Courtyard. The waitress was so very sweet with Alina, making her laugh and dance to the music. These moments are fleeting, and I am ever grateful for the health and love of my family.
The Courtyard is the center and heart of The District. Every Friday and Saturday night The District hosts Music On Main Street where people gather to listen to fun music and play with the bubble machine that is running full blast. On this Main Street, kids are the rule, not the exception {at least until bedtime}. Very sweet young ladies are there to help lead the little ones in line dances and pass out beaded necklaces {as if my kid needs another necklace!}.
This afternoon/early evening was exactly what my family needed. The weather was beautiful. Alina’s first carousel ride was a complete success. The music and bubbles kept her entertained while we chatted with other local parents admiring their happy babies.
Make sure to check out the links above and browse around… maybe The District at Green Valley Ranch has something your family would enjoy, too!
