Although I want to sit and lament how fast my baby has grown in the last 12 months, I have a party to plan! A Very Hungry Caterpillar Party, to be exact! I picked the theme a long time ago, as I wanted to keep with our birthday traditions of a literary-themed first birthday party (my daughter’s first birthday was Dr. Seuss party theme) and have always loved Eric Carle’s illustrations. So it seemed like a natural fit to be inspired for our party invitation email template and today I’m making them free printable invitations for you too!
Party Invitation Email Template
Because I want his first to be as wonderful as ever, I have been working hard on his special day… starting with his adorable party invitations! These printable invitations free up my time because they were quick for me to make digitally, but I realize not everyone has those skills… so please feel free to use the hungry caterpillar birthday invitations template below.
Originally, I wanted to make an accordion-like worm invitation but decided to make a graphic one instead (crafting is not my strong suit, but digital graphics are my jam!). I think it turned out pretty cute, and I had a blast making it. I also love a free printable invitations! So, for my first free printable on the blog, I am happy to offer my little boy’s Very Hungry Caterpillar Party invitation to my worm-tastic readers. Because I love ya’ll!

May 28, 2013 at 8:12 pmHi Gabriela,
The file is a regular jpeg, so you can use which ever program to edit the printable. I use Photoshop Elements, in addition to an online service called PicMonkey that is fantastic. You can probably try to use the clone tool to erase the ‘one’ text, or even apply a white overlay. Hope that helps!

May 29, 2013 at 11:35 amThanx, I actually finished them last night. It saved under windows live gallery and from there I chose a tool bar at the top that reads extra’s and clicked on it. It gives you the option to open with and I chose paint. It allowed me to copy and paste and do it on microsoft office publisher. I really appreciate the free download because every where I looked they had a fee. I love your blog by the way.

July 16, 2013 at 9:44 pmHi. How gorgeous does your little man look! Love his pre birthday photo shoot too. I’m just wondering how do I add the photo to the invitation? I didn’t have Photoshop Elements but have downloaded a trial version, so I can get my little man’s invites out soon as.
Cheers 🙂

May 25, 2014 at 9:48 amAbsolutely love your blog and gorgeous idea for a first birthday party! Thank you so so much for the gorgeous download invite. Trying so hard to edit it on picmonkey but feeling rather silly! Can’t work out how to shape the pic to fit it in the O?? Any tips? Would the jpeg be easier to use on a different program like powerpoint or something for the technically challenged!!!
Thanks so much!
Vanessa
May 25, 2014 at 12:08 pmYou’re sweet, Jen… thank you! Have you worked with PicMonkey before? Try using their cutouts to create a circle jpg or png of your image (a png with a transparent background would be easiest for editing), save to your desktop, then upload as your own overlay on top of the O. Hope that helps!
